what will we look to, when thy prospect is seen through eyes?
what will we look to, when your enemy's word hoard turns to lies?
why should we out-judge, oh spirits who control our fate?
send forth your winds, silence the breath of prate
O gods of mere brothers in fratricide
rise up o demigods, tasteful powers thine fathers begot
Leaders upon your death, of thy sons patricide
by the birth of wine, let our father titans rot
i dance to the rhythm of the spirit, who waxes and wanes
cleanse the earth of its arrogance, with the flood of Enlil's rain
O gods of mere brothers in fratricide
heavenly bodies guide us, mother earth keeping us array
Leaders Upon thy death, by thy sons fratricide
carmina non prius audita, bibis nectar vitarum
less we forget the candlelight wrapped within our flesh
less we forget, heart of the drum pumping our evil blood fresh
An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
Over the entirety of "Darkness Devours," Hanging Fortress brings some serious primal death metal aggression. Like captain fucking caveman riffs. It's so good. Almost missed this, which is just a straight up beat down that you want over again. bcb723
